The market was generally good last week and should be good this week as well. More concern is on geo-political events that could cause a pullback. There is a very good chance that the week will be flat so individual stock choices will be important.

The market was generally good last week and should be good this week as well even though the indicators for the entire market are not extremely optimistic. More concern is on geo-political events that could cause a pullback. Be cautious with any stock that is setting a 52-week (or close to it) as I do not believe the big investors are excited about big new growth.

The analysis on any investment indicator is always a short-term thought and just by being in this list the stock already is a long-term Good Company  or Fair Company and made my Watch List. The market last week was not very good. Confident Investors should exercise extreme caution on any investment until the market stabilizes again. This slight correction will offer significantly better deals on great stocks as the market starts to expand. If the correction should continue (something that I don’t foresee) then your money is better off in the money market account than in stocks that are trying to find a bottom. I have a significant cash position right now as I wait for deals to expose themselves.

The market pulled back last week and hasn’t been great (except for individual stocks) for the past couple weeks. This is why it is so important to balance your index funds with well-chosen individual stocks. This week the Fed meets and it is quite difficult to judge what will happen after that meeting. This is a good week to be cautious with new investments. It is also a good week to consider taking your initial investment off of the table and let your earnings grow by themselves. I call this strategy GOPM for Grow on Other People’s Money. It is well covered in my book, “The Confident Investor.” I have also written of the basics on this site.

The analysis on any investment indicator is always a short-term thought and just by being in this list the stock already is a long-term Good Company  or Fair Company and made my Watch List. If you are looking for long-term analysis of the stock, you should look for the stock in the company list that appears to the far right.

Investment Indicator Thoughts

S&P 500
The general S&P 500 (ticker is ^GSPC and the first line of my investment indicator articles). This is the second week in a row that this index was not showing BUY. This is not a good sign. Be very cautious with opening large investments until we get a better trend. If you have made a significant gain in a stock, you may want to consider taking your initial investment off the table. If you are unsure how to do this, it is fully explained in my book The Confident Investor.

NASDAQ Composite
The NASDAQ Composite (the ticker is ^IXIC and the second line of my investment indicator articles). This is the second week in a row that this index was not showing BUY. This is not a good sign. Be very cautious with opening large investments until we get a better trend. If you have made a significant gain in a stock, you may want to consider taking your initial investment off the table.
