Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PCS) is a fertilizer company. The Company operates in three business segments: potash, nitrogen and phosphate. The Company owns and operates five potash operations in Saskatchewan and one in New Brunswick. Its nitrogen operations involve the production of nitrogen fertilizers and nitrogen feed and industrial products, including ammonia, urea, nitrogen solutions, ammonium nitrate and nitric acid. It has nitrogen facilities in Georgia, Louisiana, Ohio and Trinidad. The Company’s phosphate operations include the manufacture and sale of solid and liquid phosphate fertilizers, phosphate feed and industrial acid, which is used in food products and industrial processes. It has phosphate mines and mineral processing plant complexes in Florida and North Carolina. The Company also has four phosphate feed plants in the United States and produce phosphoric acid at its Geismar, Louisiana facility.

 

Confident Investor comments: At this time, I think that a Confident Investor can cautiously invest in Potash Corp./Saskatchewan (USA) as long as the price is correct. Most of the fundamentals of this company are good but there are some concerns. I have been disappointed in the growth of Potash, I am removing it from my Watch List.

The market was generally good last week and should be good this week as well. More concern is on geo-political events that could cause a pullback. There is a very good chance that the week will be flat so individual stock choices will be important.

The market was generally good last week and should be good this week as well. More concern for geo-political events that could cause a pullback. There is a very good chance that the week will be flat so individual stock choices will be important. Look for a spike or drop on individual stocks this week and the next couple as quarterly earnings are released.

The general S&P 500 (ticker is ^GSPC and the first line of my investment indicator articles). Last week was a good growth week even though it was interrupted by Independence Day holiday. This week is the beginning of Q2 earnings announcements. It is possible that any stock could see significant movement in pricing due to unexpectedly good or bad news. Vigilence is warranted during this time.
